Height fit is directional: based on published interior room. Seat travel varies, so test-drive your shortlist.

How it works
- Ranked on published interior and exterior measurements — never estimated or fabricated.
- Scored within each class, so a roomy compact isn't buried under bigger vehicles.
- Height fit is directional (no seat-travel data); garage fit is an exact dimensional check with clearance.
- Measurements we don't have — car-seat fit, seat height for shorter drivers — are left out rather than guessed.
Frequently asked questions
- How does the Car Fit Finder work?
- Pick what matters — your height, whether you need a roomy back seat or lots of cargo, and your garage size — and we rank vehicles by the published interior and exterior measurements that decide fit. Every result is scored within its own class, so a compact is judged against compacts, not full-size SUVs.
- Is the height fit exact?
- No — it is directional. We use published front legroom and headroom, which correlate with fit but do not capture seat travel, seat height, or steering adjustment. Treat the ranking as a strong shortlist and test-drive your top picks in your normal driving position.
- Can it tell me if car seats will fit?
- Not yet. That needs LATCH anchor counts and cabin shoulder room, which we do not publish. The back-seat option ranks by rear legroom and headroom — room for people, including growing kids — not car-seat installation.
- How does the garage check work?
- Enter your space size and we compare it against each vehicle's exterior length, width, and height, leaving clearance for doors and mirrors. Cars that will not fit are flagged and sorted to the bottom. Measure your tightest point (mirror to mirror, lowest part of the door) for the most reliable result.
