Disclaimers & Data Policy
MotiveGrid publishes independent analytical scores based on publicly available data. This page describes the nature of our data, its sources, and the limitations you should understand before relying on it.

Editorial independence
MotiveGrid scores and rankings are independent editorial analysis produced by MotiveGrid and its contributors. They do not represent endorsements, recommendations, or certified ratings from any vehicle manufacturer, dealer, government agency, or financial institution. No manufacturer has paid for, reviewed, or influenced any score or ranking on this site.
Scores are analytical opinions, not statements of fact
The MotiveGrid composite score and all pillar sub-scores (Cost of Ownership, Powertrain, Safety, Driver Assistance, and Livability) are the product of a proprietary analytical model. They represent MotiveGrid's editorial opinion about relative vehicle performance within each scoring dimension. They are not certified ratings, safety guarantees, or legally binding assessments. A low score in any category reflects our model's output — not a determination that a vehicle is unsafe, unreliable, or otherwise defective.
Estimated and modeled data
Cost of Ownership figures (including depreciation, insurance, fuel, maintenance, registration, and financing estimates) are projections produced by MotiveGrid's financial model. Actual ownership costs vary significantly based on location, driving patterns, individual insurance profiles, negotiated purchase price, incentives, and market conditions. These figures should be used for comparative purposes only and do not constitute financial or purchase advice. Always consult a qualified financial advisor and obtain real quotes before making a vehicle purchase decision.
Third-party data sources
MotiveGrid incorporates publicly available data from the following sources, used for analytical and editorial purposes:
• U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) — fuel economy and emissions ratings • National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) — crash test ratings and consumer complaints • Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) — crash and safety ratings • CarEdge — vehicle depreciation and residual value data • Vehicle manufacturer specifications — powertrain, dimensions, and feature data
MotiveGrid is not affiliated with, licensed by, or endorsed by any of these organizations. Data from these sources is attributed where used and is transformed into derived scores and analytical outputs — it is not reproduced verbatim or in raw form.
Data accuracy and currency
Vehicle specifications, pricing, and feature availability change frequently. MotiveGrid makes reasonable efforts to maintain accurate data but does not guarantee that any data point reflects current manufacturer specifications, pricing, or availability. Verify all specifications and pricing directly with the manufacturer or dealer before purchase. Some data points are marked "Provisional" where source data is limited; these should be given less weight in purchase decisions.
No warranty
All content on MotiveGrid is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. MotiveGrid disclaims all liability for errors, omissions, or inaccuracies in the data, scores, or analysis presented on this site. MotiveGrid is not liable for any decisions made based on information published here.
Trademarks
Vehicle make and model names, logos, and trademarks referenced on this site are the property of their respective owners. Their use is for identification and editorial purposes only. MotiveGrid is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any vehicle manufacturer.
